24th International Wine Competition - Temerin 2022

18. 01. 2022.

The international Temerin Wine Competition which has become one of the biggest events in Serbia took place for the 24th time in Temerin this year. The event was originally aimed at small producers but is now also attended by large wineries. The organisers, members of the Temerini Garden Friends, usually expect between 700 and 800 wine samples. In 2022, a total of 523 samples were submitted. This wine competition has a long tradition in Temerin, where hundreds of wines are judged every year by a jury of international viticulture and oenology experts. Our winery has actively started the year 2022. At the beginning of the year we participated with our wines for the first time in the 24th International Wine Competition in Temerin, Serbia.

523 samples were presented to 14 juries of 70 wine tasters. Like the wines, the judges also came from several countries: Romania, Croatia, Serbia, Slovakia and Hungary. János Erőss represented Eger for the third time as an international wine judge.

Two of our wines have been awarded a major gold medal:

  • Egri Bikavér (Bull's Blood) Superior 2015
  • Merlot 2018

Three of our wines received a gold medal:

  • Egri Bikavér (Bull's Blood) 2019
  • Egri Merlot 2018
  • Egri Cuvée 2019

Two of our wines were awarded a silver medal:

  • Cabernet Franc 2016
  • Egri Cabernet Franc 2018

Through the above results we feel confirmed in our belief that the wine cellars in Eger are an optimal place to mature excellent red wines. Such success is a great motivation for us in these difficult times when the vines are pruned. It also confirms to us that it is worth fighting for viticulture in everyday life, in order to create the possibility of having high-quality wines on the shelves for the next vintage as well.
